We did it…we splurged on Genie+! For our one day park hopper visit to DCA, we thought it was a must! As a couple, it was well worth the price to skip the lines. Although unfortunate that Disney is essentially charging for fast passes now, it still ends up being cheaper than an extra day in the parks in order to fit everything in.

PROS:

  • Times for rides readily available

  • Ability to ride more rides each day - we jumped from ride to ride consistently

  • Easy to use in app

  • Little to no wait time in the fast pass lightning lane line

CONS:

  • Additional $20/day/person on top of regular ticket price  (only costs $15/day/person in WDW)

  • Genie Tip Board. With suggestions based upon a maximum of 5 activities you enjoy in the parks, it’s recommendations are broad and unhelpful. No, I don’t want to wait in line for Dumbo at park opening, thanks…

  • Still have to pay anywhere from $7-20 each person each ride for Rise of the Resistance, Web Slingers (see our review here), and Radiator Springs Racers, with a limit of riding 2 of these per day

  • Only able to pay to ride Rise of the Resistance, Web Slingers, and Radiator Springs Racers once per day

All in all, I would buy Genie + again for DCA. In one day, we were able to ride 10+ rides, along with browsing shops calmly, stopping for snacks, and going to Trader Sam’s for 90+ minutes. What do you think, will you purchase Genie+ on your next visit to DCA? Let us know in the comments below!
